Re: ******Season 2015-16******

Week 29

2nd / 3rd April fixtures

Div 1

Wills (9) 206
McGetta (9) 201
Cheshire (10) 200
Haddock (12) 198
Blimby (7) 183
Ian (5) 177
---------------
Wilts (9) 165

Nothing much to report other than to take note of a great start to Haddock's post-transfer-window campaign with a highest scoring tally of 12 to put him back in the frame.

Also closing in this week is third-placed Chesh.

At the wrong end, Wilts has gained ground again to keep that miracle recovery campaign alive.

The run-in officially starts here!!!

Div 2

Braders (11) 214
Patrick Starfish (9) 213
Early (9) 198
Matthew The Gooner (14) 191
Andy (8) 190
---------------------
Mrs Haddock (6) 188
Ballantrrae (10) 187
Dave (14) 180
Gong (12) 180
Sharon (10) 179
Turkey (9) 178
Sully (12) 177
Uwinsc (8) 157

Braders regains the summit in an incredibly topsy-turvy tussle for the title. Meantime Matthew has burst into the top 5 in thunderous style with a division's (joint-) best total of 14.

That costs Mrs Haddock her place in that top 5, while there's a group closing in from below in a week when lower-placed contestants generally scored very well.

Most notably amongst them were joint-top-scorer Dave and Gong and Sully, who haven't really fired on anything like full cylinder all season til now.

The battle for promotion is heating up as the run-in begins!!!

Re: ******Season 2015-16******

Week 30

9th / 10th April fixtures

Div 1

Wills (6) 212
McGetta (10) 211
Cheshire (9) 209
Haddock (8) 206
Blimby (3) 186
Ian (7) 184
---------------
Wilts (3) 168

Wills hangs onto the lead (just!!!) but the vultures are circling! Top-scoring McGetta is the nearest challenger but it's feasibly anyone from the mini group of 4 who have, in recent weeks, broken comprehensively clear of the rest.

Wilts suffered a setback in his ambitious survival campaign leaving him now a daunting 16 points adrift with only a few short weeks to play.

Div 2

Braders (9) 223
Patrick Starfish (6) 219
Early (6) 204
Matthew The Gooner (9) 200
Mrs Haddock (10) 198
----------------------
Andy (5) 195
Ballantrrae (5) 192
Dave (11) 191
Gong (10) 190
Sully (7) 184
Sharon (5) 184
Turkey (4) 182
Uwinsc (3) 160

Only movement in the promotion shake-up this week was Mrs H going back into the 5 yet again, this time at the expense of stuttering Andy.

Dave and Gong both hit double figures again to keep up their late bids - they've come outta nowhere to mount their late challenges!

Elsewhere, Sully moves up a couple of places.

Re: ******Season 2015-16******

Week 31

16th / 17th April fixtures

Div 1

Wills (10) 222
McGetta (9) 220
Cheshire (8) 217
Haddock (9) 215
Blimby (12) 198
Ian (9) 193
---------------
Wilts (4) 172

Still very tight at the top but Wilts's battle looks to be coming to an end after he was easily the lowest scorer of the week in the top flight.

Div 2

Braders (12) 235
Patrick Starfish (10) 229
Early (11) 215
Matthew The Gooner (11) 211
Mrs Haddock (10) 208
----------------------
Andy (10) 205
Ballantrrae (11) 203
Gong (11) 201
Dave (8) 199
Sully (8) 192
Sharon (6) 190
Turkey (7) 189
Uwinsc (4) 164

The top two looked nailed on promotion certainties now, while the other top fivers all consolidated their positions.

Gong continues his Renaissance with a third successive double figures tally (this time out: 11) to rise one place at Dave's expense.

Meantime, Uwinsc looks assured of that lovely wooden spoon!!!

Re: ******Season 2015-16******

Week 32

23rd / 24th April fixtures

Div 1

Wills (7) 229
McGetta (7) 227
Haddock (10) 225
Cheshire (5) 222
Blimby (4) 202
Ian (4) 197
---------------
Wilts (8) 180

Good week for Haddock in a late push for glory and for Wilts, who reprises the strains of Elmer Bernstein's Great Escape theme one last time.

Div 2

Braders (7) 242
Patrick Starfish (5) 234
Early (6) 221
Mrs Haddock (8) 216
Matthew The Gooner (4) 215
----------------------
Ballantrrae (8) 211
Andy (6) 211
Gong (7) 208
Dave (6) 205
Sully (11) 203
Turkey (8) 197
Sharon (5) 195
Uwinsc (9) 173

Braders extends his lead, Mrs H rises a place within the play-off zone and Ballantrrae (Raymond) steps up his challenge.

It's a steady week for on-form Gong - although he lacks for double-figures for the first time in WEEKS this time round - while Sully scored the week's highest to march towards a possible late promotion bid.

Re: ******Season 2015-16******

Week 33

30th April / 1st May fixtures

Div 1

Wills (11) 240
Haddock (13) 238
McGetta (8) 235
Cheshire (8) 230
Blimby (9) 211
Ian (9) 206
---------------
Wilts (6) 186

Even tighter at the top with Haddock making a late surge for the summit, overtaking McGetta as he top-scores his way to within 2 points. Last season he missed out to a mammoth last day tally from Wilts!

Three (possibly still 4 including Chesh) are still able to win it.

At the other end it looks like Wilts' valiant efforts of the second half of the season have finally fallen short. He's out to 20 points adrift with one to play.

Div 2

Braders (7) 249
Patrick Starfish (9) 243
Early (11) 232
Mrs Haddock (6) 222
Matthew The Gooner (6) 221
----------------------
Gong (12) 220
Ballantrrae (8) 219
& Andy (8) 219
Dave (10) 215
Sully (10) 213
Turkey (7) 204
Sharon (7) 202
Uwinsc (8) 181

The Starfish closes the gap, Early firms up his position with another double-figures haul and Gong resumes his great form with a top-scoring 12! The wooden spoon looks assured for Uwinsc.

Re: ******Season 2015-16******

FINAL RESULTS OF THE SEASON

Week 34

7th & 8th May fixtures

Div 1

Wills (7) 247----CHAMPION!!!!!!!!!!!!
Haddock (6) 244
Cheshire (11) 241
McGetta (4) 239
Blimby (11) 222
Ian (8) 214
---------------
Wilts (9) 195

Congratulations to a very worthy (and eligible!!!) winner of this year's tournament. He only managed 7 points this week, leaving Haddock requiring a very do-able 9 to beat him on the week's better score rule, but he fell short, managing only 6 to take the runners-up spot for the 2nd successive season - very unlucky, Haddock!!! Free-scoring Wigan having a one goal stutter was the difference.

Joint top-scorer Chesh squeezed into third place ahead of McGetta for the 'bronze award'.

At the foot of the table it's Wilts who drops down to the second flight for the first time in his history. Unlucky Wilts.

Div 2

Braders (5) 254
Patrick Starfish (10) 253
Early (8) 240
Mrs Haddock (13) 235
Ballantrrae (14) 233
------------------------------
Matthew The Gooner (11) 232
Andy (12) 231
Gong (7) 227
Dave (7) 222
Sully (7) 220
Turkey (13) 217
Sharon (3) 205
Uwinsc (7) 188

Wow! What a climax! Firstly Patrick gained five on Braders which was JUST short of the requirement to snatch the title, but she resoundingly completes her promotion.

Congratulations to Early who plays out a steady week to seal promotion from a strong position at the beginning of the week.

Below the top three is where the drama REALLY happened.

Mrs Haddock scored what proved to be only the (joint-) second top score of 13 and she needed to in a very high scoring finale to the promotion battle.

That's because Ballantrrae (Raymond) stormed into the top five with the week's best haul of 14! and Matthew and Andy both scored highly to keep the pressure on. For Matthew it made for an unlucky conclusion - to score 11 from a top five position and to still miss out was genuinely unfortunate - well done though to Ballantrrae.

So warmest congratulations to Champion Braders and to Patrick, Early, Mrs Haddock and Ballantrrae on their promotions - in a restructuring year they took advantage of the extra promotion spaces to seal their places in the top flight.

Thanks to everyone for playing. Hope to see you all again next season!!!

Up The Albion!
Up The Accumulator!
