Re: Season 2013-14

Week 23 (weekend of 22nd / 23rd Feb '14)

Div 1

Sharon (3) 150
Ian (5) 124
Braders (3) 121
Dave (4) 119
Elmer (4) 115
Wilts (2) 113
Cheshire (5) 108
Gong (2) 106
Haddock (2) 101
McGetta (4) 98
-----------------
Midland (4) 95
Blimby (6) 87

Chesh moves up one place, Ian slightly gains on champion elect Sharon and Haddock and Gong slip closer to the trapdoor.

Meanwhile, Blimby's remarkable campaign continues to defy the odds...imagine if he'd started in August!!!

Div 2

The Cloak (4) 136
Al (2) 134
Wills (2) 132
-----------------
Mrs Haddock (4) 131
Uwinsc (2) 131
Andy (6) 130
Locky (6) 127
Matthew The Gooner (8) 121
Gina (9) 111
Mrs Wills (5) 111
Early (4) 108
Norton (5) 107
Gus The Puppy (7) 102
Turkey (2) 102
Quadrant (3) 85
Goughie (3) 82

Despite losing Leigh Griffiths in the Jan transfer window, Cloaky has regained the lead from Al, who shared a poor week with Wills.

This all allowed ground to be made up by most of the challengers, with Matthew the biggest gainer...does he have time to make up the difference?

Top scorer was Gina but the best she's likely to be able to hope for is upper-mid-table.

Re: Season 2013-14

Week 24 (weekend of 1st / 2nd Mar '14)

Div 1

Sharon (6) 156
Ian (6) 130
Braders (4) 125
Dave (4) 123
Elmer (7) 122
Wilts (5) 118
Cheshire (7) 115
Gong (4) 110
McGetta (7) 105
Haddock (4) 105
-----------------
Midland (7) 102
Blimby (4) 91

With little significant change in the upper echelons of the league, it's looking like it's in the bag for Sharon.

At the other end, it's hotting up bigtime! Blimby's comeback stuttered but Midland and McGetta both scored well to gain on the players above, meaning poor Ole Haddock has dropped into the firing line and Gong also slips nearer trouble. Could it end up with Gong and Haddock going head-to-head for survival again as per two seasons ago??

Div 2

The Cloak (6) 142
Al (7) 141
Andy (8) 138
----------------------
Mrs Haddock (6) 137
& Uwinsc (6) 137
Wills (5) 137
Matthew The Gooner (7) 128
Locky (1) 128
Mrs Wills (7) 118
Gina (4) 115
Norton (7) 114
Early (6) 114
Gus The Puppy (8) 110
Turkey (4) 106
Quadrant (6) 91
Goughie (3) 85

The Cloak continues to cling to the lead but his whole promotion dreams are in the balance after the sale of Leigh Griffiths. Al has gained slightly, Andy has stormed back into the places and Mrs H, Uwinsc and Wills are all still in the mix. Another strong week from Matthew pushes him back into contention as a possible dark horse but the weeks are running out!

Re: Season 2013-14

Week 25 (weekend of 15th / 16th Mar '14)

Div 1

Sharon (3) 159
Ian (3) 133
Braders (2) 127
Wilts (8) 126
Elmer (3) 125
Dave (2) 125
Cheshire (8) 123
Gong (5) 115
McGetta (9) 114
Haddock (4) 109
-----------------
Midland (6) 108
Blimby (6) 97

No-one likes going on top #oo er missus!

Sharon is strolling to the title due to the lack of a solid and consistent challenge by the looks of it. Wilts moved up the order and Chesh also was a slick mover but that's it in the top half.

At the bottom McGetta had a vital top-scoring 9 to climb away from danger a bit while it's looking ever more precarious for Haddock with Midders clawing another 2 points back....just one away now. Derby have forgotten how to score big time!!! Grrrr. Blimby also makes a small amount of ground up but needs to gain on two players not just one!

Div 2

Al (6) 147
The Cloak (5) 147
Wills (8) 145
------------------------
Mrs Haddock (6) 143
Andy (5) 143
Uwinsc (3) 140
Matthew The Gooner (4) 132
Locky (3) 131
Norton (8) 122
Mrs Wills (3) 121
Gina (5) 120
Early (3) 117
Turkey (8) 114
Gus The Puppy (2) 112
Quadrant (4) 95
Goughie (1) 86

It's desperately close in the chase for promotion. Mrs Haddock thought she was in the places after squeezing past Andy but Wills stormed past both while Al claims the summit again.

Norton is suffering from a nosebleed after another free-scoring week for Liverpool and improved form from BHA and York has sent her up to a handsome mid-table berth.

After looking healthy for a challenge Locky has fallen apart these past two weeks (no ages jokes please!!! emoticon).

Meantime it's looking all over for the likes of Early and Gus The Puppy after a poor week.

On;y a few weeks to go now....it's hotting up like the weather.

Re: Season 2013-14

Week 26 (weekend of 22nd / 23rd Mar '14)

Div 1

Sharon (8) 167
Braders (11) 138
Wilts (11) 137
Ian (4) 137
Elmer (9) 134
Cheshire (10) 133
Dave (6) 131
Haddock (16) 125
McGetta (9) 123
Gong (5) 120
-----------------
Midland (10) 118
Blimby (5) 102

I'd say that's now just about in the bag for long-term leader Sharon, with a strengthening of her towering lead with the weeks fast running out. Braders and Wilts overtook a feeble Ian in the race for the runners-up spot.

At the other end, Haddock's majestic score of 16 (five better than anyone else in the division) has made a huge difference to his survival hopes, propelling him up two places and 6 & 11 away from the basement boys respectively....pah! Don't know what I was worrying about!!! #thank heavens Derby have remembered where the goal is at last!

Blimby's stuttering 5 has cast doubt on his miracle campaign at just the wrong moment but there's STILL time, Blimby!

Fellow flop Gong is now the target man....well he is lanky after all!!! emoticon

Div 2

Wills (11) 156
Al (9) 156
The Cloak (7) 154
------------------------
Mrs Haddock (9) 152
Andy (7) 150
Uwinsc (8) 148
Matthew The Gooner (3) 135
Locky (2) 133
Norton (10) 132
Early (14) 131
Mrs Wills (8) 129
Gina (6) 126
Gus The Puppy (3) 115
Turkey (1) 115
Quadrant (3) 98
Goughie (4) 90

Wills has jumped two places back to top spot, JUST ahead of Al. Cloaky has clung onto third by his bony and skeletal finger tips, while Mrs Haddock, Andy and debutant Uwinsc all look in with a decent shout of promotion too as the clock ticks endwards.

Most notable this week were:

1) on-form Norts who followed up a tidy, joint-top-scoring tally of 8 on a barren week last time out with a splendid 10 this time. That nose bleed must be a river of altitude-inspired redness by now, Maria!!!

and

2) division's best EarlyBird with a mammoth 14....though obviously not as stunning as Haddock's total in the big-boys league!!! emoticon Earls almost overtook Norton on his rhino-style stomp up the table. Too late for both this year but a respectable campaign regardless.

You sound like the Chicago Cubs, "wait till next year."
Well, next year has come and gone 106 times so far and counting. If the Cubs ever do win the World Series I will kill myself and Chicago will go mad!!!!
