Re: Season 2012-13

Week 29

Div 1

Cheshire (9) 166
Keef (3) 166
Sharon (3) 154
Dave (2) 154
McGetta (5) 153
Blimby (3) 153
Wilts (10) 146
Gong (4) 146
===========
Andy (3) 146

Oh my! It's all gone crazy at once! Port Vale's mauling of their victims last Friday night (7 goals + 1 for Tom Pope) helped Chesh and Wilts turn the status quo on its head.

Chesh scored nine to overhaul a Keefy who can't stop amassing tallies of just 3 per week. He now has the lead just as we start the run-in. I wouldn't bet against him now.

Meantime 'bottom boy' emoticon Wilts outdid even Chesh with the week's best (10), which was just enough to overturn the rest of the deficit he's been trying to reduce on Andy and Gong.

All three players now sit on 146 points but Andy has abruptly and suddenly sunk to the foot of the table by token of the week's inferior score. Congratulations to Wilts for a stunning comeback (top- / joint-top- scoring for three successive weeks now).

Insanely 3rd placed Sharon, a title contender for most of the season (and still an outside bet), could feasibly go down as the table has become so tight.

Div 2

Haddock (3) 157
Midland (9) 154
Wills (4) 153
Early (5) 152
=================
Ian (8) 150
Braders (5) 150
Mrs Haddock (4) 150
Turkey (1) 150
Matthew the Gooner (3) 149
Pitbull (4) 147
Gina (5) 130
Quadrant (4) 129
Mrs Wills (4) 128
Bungaloosh (2) 127
Norton (3) 117

Midland is the headline act this week with 9 points (thanks largely to Vale's goal-blitz). He's right up in the promotion slots and is now nearest challenger to perennial leader Haddock emoticon

Wills and Early keep in the frame but Ian (with 8 points) overtook Braders who overtook Mrs Haddock who overtook woeful Turkey in a dramatic week.

As tense as ever!

Week 30

Div 1

Cheshire (5) 171
& Keef (5) 171
Sharon (6) 160
McGetta (6) 159
Dave (4) 158
Blimby (3) 156
Gong (6) 152
& Andy (6) 152
===========
Wilts (4) 150

Chesh and Keefy are locked in a desperate battle for glory with only a few weeks left!

Meantime Gong and Andy have climbed back ahead of Wilts.

It's getting very dramatic at both ends of the table. My bet is on "survival specialist" Gong beating the drop. Andy has been top this season so maybe he'll panic now he's near the drop zone...in a Stoke stylee?!

Div 2

Haddock (4) 161
Midland (6) 160
Early (7) 159
Ian (7) 157
=============
Wills (4) 157
Braders (6) 156
Mrs Haddock (5) 155
Pitbull (6) 153
Matthew The Gooner (4) 153
Turkey (2) 152
Gina (6) 136
Mrs Wills (7) 135
Quadrant (6) 135
Bungaloosh (4) 131
Norton (6) 123

It's getting intensein Div 2, to say the least! Haddock STILL retains the lead but latest pretender to the throne Midland is looking the real deal with a rhino-style charge up the table, trampling on all before him. Looks good for promotion at least!

Early, on-form-Ian and Mrs Wills top-scored with 7 a-piece, taking Earls back to 3rd and Ian into the play-offs at Wills' expense. Turkey has picked a disasterous time to embark on a disasterous run (that's what you get for picking Palace and Murray in the transfer window, Si!!! emoticon), but anyone down to Turkey in 10th are still in with a shout.

Who can handle the pressure?!

Tick tock tick tock.

Re: Season 2012-13

Week 31

Div 1

Keef (10) 181
Cheshire (8) 179
Dave (8) 166
Blimby (6) 162
McGetta (3) 162
Sharon (2) 162
Gong (6) 158
Wilts (7) 157
=========
Andy (5) 157

Keef has grabbed the lead straight back with just one round to play! It's going to go down to the last kick!!!

McGetta and Sharon have missed a last chance to challenge by under-scoring and have dropped down the table too.

And what's this???!!! Wilts has climbed off the foot of the table at former league-leader Andy's expense again.

The Great Escape is on! If Wilts AND Andy both turn up next week, there's plenty of over-the-shoulder looking still to be done for anyone up as high as the afore-mentioned McGetta, Sharon + Blimby....but surely Dave is safe now after a decent tally of 8 this week?.......isn't he?!! emoticon

Div 2

Haddock (6) 167
Midland (5) 165
Braders (8) 164
Ian (6) 163
===========
Turkey (8) 160
Early (1) 160
Wills (2) 159
Mrs Haddock (2) 157
Pitbull (3) 156
& Matthew The Gooner (3) 156
Mrs Wills (13) 148
Quadrant (10) 145
Gina (5) 141
Bungaloosh (5) 136
Norton (11) 134

Well, the promotion race is as topsy-turvy as ever! Haddock holds top-spot again after Midland's ManUre couldn't add the two second half goals vs Villa that would have seen him peak! Just one more week to hang on.

Strong week's from each of Braders, Ian and Turkey have put them right up there but Turkey is still just shy of the dividing line, but it's been a very bad week for Early, Wills, Mrs H, Pitbull AND Matthew though so they have it all to do now.

Notable this week was huge-scorer Mrs Wills, whose stunning 13 propelled her up and closed that lower mid-table chasm that had been present for weeks on end.

Also reducing that big gap was Quadders who struck 10...and basement girl Norts has put in a late bid to avoid her familiar old wooden spoon with an impressive 11....watch out Bungaloosh!!!!!

THE FINAL STANDINGS FOR SEASON 2012-2013

Week 32 - The Concluding Week Of The Season

Div 1

Keef (5) 186
Cheshire (3) 182
Dave (5) 171
Blimby (6) 168
& Sharon (6) 168
McGetta (3) 165
Gong (5) 163
Wilts (4) 161 =======
& Andy (4) 161

Oh my word! Keef (Elmer) has held on to the lead to claim the title.....CHAMPION!!! CONGRATULATIONS, KEEFY!!!!!

In an incredibly tight climax, Wilts and Andy have become locked on exactly the same scores (4 this week each and 161 points each in total).

As there's only 1 relegation space in an already under-represented division, it will go to a decider.

Both players have L1 and L2 teams who are out of action but neither have Championship clubs so quite simply it comes down to this:

Andy's Man City and Wilt's Chelsea go head-to-head this weekend. If one scores more than the other we have a "survivor" and a "non-survivor". If not we carry on to the following weekend until we do.

IF the players cannot be seperated at all at PL season's end BOTH will be relegated and the 5th-placed Division 2 player will be promoted i.e Wills

Div 2

Haddock (5) 172
Braders (5) 169
Midland (2) 167
Ian (3) 166

===========
Wills (6) 165
Early (4) 164
Mrs Haddock (6) 163
Turkey (3) 163
Pitbull (3) 159
Matthew The Gooner (2) 158
Mrs Wills (4) 152
Gina (7) 148
Quadrant (2) 147
Bungaloosh (6) 142
Norton (4) 138

CONGRATULATIONS TO, ER, ME! ON MY MASTERFUL PROMOTION CAMPAIGN.

League leader for nearly the whole season, Haddock dug in when required then stretched away in the final couple of weeks for a fairly comfortable success in the end.

What's been happening below has been chaos. Constant changing of positions and players crossing the line more than a Frankie Boyle routine or a habitual Mexican border dodger! In the end Haddock is joined in promotion by BRADERS, MIDDERS and IAN. CONGRATULATIONS ONE AND ALL!!!

Desperately unlucky though for Wills and Early, who have been there or thereabouts all season and only just missed the cut - however, Wills has a glimmer of hope (see Div 1 summary above).

Finally it's ANTI-CONGRATULATIONS to Norton on another wooden spoon! Nooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!
