Re: 2009-10 Latest Standings

Week 31

Not long left in the season and things are getting exciting!

Here's the latest:

Div 1

Wilts (10) 176
Dave (13) 172
Wills (7) 172
Sussex (10) 169
Gong (8) 164
Locky (6) 164
Munkeyboy (9) 161
Early (9) 160
Haddock (6) 159
Cheshire (9) 153
Ian (3) 153
-------------------------
Mrs Haddock (7) 145
Norton (8) 137
Eric Cornflake (4) 123

Dave scores the best total for 11 weeks with his stunning 13 point haul (guess which PL team he has?!!!)

There are a few dramatic changes elsewhere and Mrs Haddock is creeping ever closer to pulling off the seemingly impossible....Ian is now in her sights following Cheshire's excellent total...while Norton managed to grab another good 8.

Corny is as good as dead though now.

Div 2

Rochdale (9) 176
Blimby (7) 158
Kev (9) 152
------------------------
Wynford (7) 145
McGetta (9) 144
Sharon (6) 143
The Mistress (5) 137
Phil (5) 136
Andy (7) 118
Braders (6) 118
SDU (8) 113
Superseagull (3) 88
WynfordSon (8) 60

So Roch is as good as home-and-dry, there were strong scores for the other promotion candidates while Andy's recovery takes him up another place to 9th.

Re: 2009-10 Latest Standings

Week 32

Div 1

Wilts (10) 186
Dave (5) 177
& Wills (5) 177
Sussex (6) 175
Locky (6) 170
Gong (5) 169
Munkeyboy (6) 167
Early (2) 162
Haddock (2) 161
Ian (4) 157
Cheshire (2) 155
-------------------------
Mrs Haddock (4) 149
Norton (6) 143
Eric Cornflake (3) 126

So it looks like Wilts has timed his run to perfection, striding to 9 points clear after his 2nd consecutive tally of 10 in a week when most of the big teams low-scored.

Dave and Wills are neck and neck in second and Sussex the other likely challenger.

Near the foot it was another disasterous week for Chesh' who's seen the gap to trouble reduced yet further after Mrs H and Norton both out-scored him once again....the ladies are comin' for yer, Chesh!!!

Div 2

Rochdale (4) 180
Blimby (6) 164
Kev (5) 157
------------------------
Sharon (9) 152
Wynford (3) 148
McGetta (2) 146
The Mistress (6) 143
Phil (2) 138
Andy (4) 122
Braders (3) 121
SDU (5) 118
Superseagull (5) 93
WynfordSon (8) 68

Kev has had 2 points picked off from his 3rd place spot, but it's not by Wynford or McGetta, who had untimely set-backs, but by my sister Sharon, who got the division's best total to re-ignite her promotion push.

Superseagull's late-starting campaign continues to impress, another 8 points towards an unlikely 100.

Easter Part 2 to follow shortly today....

Re: 2009-10 Latest Standings

Week 33

Div 1

Wilts (3) 189
Wills (4) 181
Sussex (4) 179
Dave (2) 179
Gong (3) 172
Locky (2) 172
Munkeyboy (3) 170
Early (2) 164
Haddock (2) 163
Ian (4) 161
Cheshire (1) 156
-------------------------
Mrs Haddock (1) 150
Norton (2) 145
Eric Cornflake (5) 131

So wooden spooner Eric C grabbed the spoils in the second half of the Easter weekend's fixtures with 5 (no PL games were played on the Monday). Norton has improved her situation AGAIN: by the tiny amount of 1 point.

Near the top, Dave slipped a bit but there was little activity in the placings.

Div 2

Rochdale (1) 181
Blimby (2) 166
Kev (4) 161
------------------------
Sharon (1) 153
Wynford (2) 150
McGetta (2) 148
The Mistress (1) 144
Phil (4) 142
Andy (4) 126
Braders (4) 125
SDU (0) 118
Superseagull (3) 96
WynfordSon (2) 70

So Kev cushions his lead back a bit from Sharon. Nothing else worth mentioning really!!!

THERE ARE ONLY FIVE WEEKENDS LEFT....THE LAST OF WHICH DOESN'T FEATURE THE EARLIER-FINISHING CHAMPIONSHIP SIDES. ALL TO PLAY FOR AS THE SEASON MOVES INTO THE HOME STRAIGHT!

Re: 2009-10 Latest Standings

Week 34

Div 1

Wilts (8) 197
Sussex (8) 187
Dave (7) 186
Wills (5) 186
Gong (8) 180
Locky (6) 178
Munkeyboy (7) 177
Ian (7) 168
Haddock (2) 165
Early (1) 165
Cheshire (0) 156
-------------------------
Norton (5) 150
Mrs Haddock (0) 150
Eric Cornflake (1) 132

Wilts is charging towards glory with what seems like a perfectly timed run. Wills stumbled a bit, allowing Sussex and Dave to slip past him, while Cheshire's continued fatal form has luckily for him not been costly....his miserable 0 was matched by relegation rival Mrs H.

The beneficiary is Norton, whose mini-revival gathered pace to the tune of a 5 point gain (taking her above Mrs H on the better week rule).

Div 2

Rochdale (3) 184
Blimby (7) 173
Kev (9) 170
------------------------
Sharon (5) 158
Wynford (1) 151
McGetta (1) 149
The Mistress (4) 148
Phil (3) 145
Andy (5) 131
Braders (3) 128
SDU (1) 119
Superseagull (5) 101
WynfordSon (5) 75

Has Rochdale's barren spell come too late to deny him the title? Probably, as he still holds a fairly commanding lead over the other promotion-placed players, whose concerns are surely more looking downwards than up.

And if Blimby and (week's best player) Kev were to look down, they'd probably like what they see....a battle weary cluster of battered rivals, the only one of whom still offers signs of life being Sharon, whose moderate tally of 5 at least keeps her dwindling dreams alive!!

Meantime the later-starting bottom two both picked up 5 to continue to close in on the technically worst players just above....congratulations in particular to Superseagull who has managed the impressive feat of reaching 100 despite such a late entry into the competition. WynfordSon has been equally impressive from an even later start to the effect that he can still make treble figures before the season's out.

Just 4 more weeks to go now (Championship sides have only 3 matches!!!).

Re: 2009-10 Latest Standings

Week 35

Div 1

Wilts (7) 204
Sussex (4) 191
Dave (4) 190 &
Wills (4) 190
Gong (5) 185
Locky (5) 183
Munkeyboy (4) 181
Ian (6) 174
Haddock (4) 169
Early (3) 168
Cheshire (3) 159
-------------------------
Norton (6) 156
Mrs Haddock (2) 152
Eric Cornflake (4) 136

Wilts has stretched his lead again and passed the 200 mark into the bargain....nearly there now Knee Crock!!! All his nearest rivals decided to stick to a mediocre 4!

But it's Norton's sustained attempts at a great escape that continue to grab the headlines...yet another 3 point pull-back on the now terrified Chesh, who is just 3 points from the relegation spots. What a comeback, Maria!

Mrs H is almost gone now!

Div 2

Rochdale (4) 188
Blimby (3) 176
Kev (5) 175
------------------------
Sharon (1) 159
Wynford (3) 154
The Mistress (5) 153
McGetta (3) 152
Phil (3) 148
Braders (8) 136
Andy (4) 135
SDU (5) 124
Superseagull (5) 106
WynfordSon (2) 77

Looks like it's game over in Div 2 with all of the top 3 now in seemingly unassailable leads.

Premature congratulations to each of them on their solid and efficient campaigns!!!

Re: 2009-10 Latest Standings

Week 36

Div 1

Wilts (10) 214
Sussex (11) 202
Dave (10) 200
Gong (12) 197
Wills (7) 197
Munkeyboy (10) 191
Locky (4) 187
Ian (6) 180
Early (6) 174
Haddock (3) 172
Norton (8) 164
-------------------------
Cheshire (5) 164
Mrs Haddock (7) 159
Eric Cornflake (4) 140

Ooooh! Sensational late drama at the bottom of the table...Norton's sustained campaign for safety has been fruitful!!!! She's outgunned Chesh week on week (last few weeks: 6v2, 2v1, 5v0, 6v3, and now 8v5) and has ousted him on this week's better score rule! It couldn't be closer!!!

And Mrs Haddock is clinging to survival hope after a decent 7 keeps her dream alive!

My own disasterous end of campaign (thanks Arsenal, Norwich and Rochdale! emoticon) has seen me get
a bit closer than I'd like to the zone but I should be ok.

Meantime, Wilts keeps a solid lead with Sussex only gaining one point on the gap....he can taste victory and the first title in his history!!!!

And Dave and Gong are making a late charge for 'Europe'!!....it'll come as no surprise to tell you that all of the Top 4 (who all scored high) have 7-goal Chelsea in their ranks!!!

Div 2

Rochdale (5) 193
Kev (13) 188
Blimby (5) 181
------------------------
Sharon (4) 163
Wynford (6) 160
McGetta (6) 158
The Mistress (4) 157
Phil (8) 156
Braders (7) 143
Andy (5) 140
SDU (9) 133
Superseagull (3) 109
WynfordSon (7) 84

A stunning 13 for Kev puts him not just up a place to 2nd but also in with a shot at the Div 2 title. Promotion looks done-and-dusted now so it's all about whether Kev can reach the summit with an impecably-timed late surge.

At the foot, latecomer WynfordSon continues his impressive campaign for treble figures....still on course with a respectable 7 this week.

*Look out for details of my World Cup Golden Boots Accumulator in General Chat shortly*

Re: 2009-10 Latest Standings

Week 37 (The Penultimate Weekend)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Div 1

Wilts (8) 222
Sussex (6) 208
Dave (4) 204
Wills (5) 202
Gong (3) 200
Munkeyboy (6) 197
Locky (2) 189
Ian (2) 182
Early (5) 179
Haddock (5) 177
Cheshire (4) 168
---------------------------
Norton (1) 165
Mrs Haddock (2) 161
Eric Cornflake (6) 146

It's ALMOST there for Wilts now, with another decent return, stretching his lead at the top to an effectively unassailable 14!!!

At the bottom: Norton, Norton, Norton! After you did so well to climb out of the zone, you've only gone and choked at the penultimate hurdle! A piffling 1 score has allowed Chesh to ease clear despite only a moderate total of 4 for the week....and Mrs H has stumbled on 2 *snigger*

So it looks like it's all about the relegation battle for this weekend's finale.

Wilts has already organised an open top bus tour around bumpkinland to celebrate his storming win....he looks like being this year's 'special one'!

Div 2

Rochdale (3) 196
Kev (3) 191
Blimby (4) 185
------------------------
Sharon (4) 167
Wynford (4) 164
McGetta (5) 163
The Mistress (2) 159
Phil (1) 157
Andy (5) 145
Braders (2) 145
SDU (0) 133
Superseagull (5) 114
WynfordSon (6) 90

So just like League One's promotion race, no-one seems to want to win!!! Low scores amongst all the top contenders leave Roch still in pole position going into the final batch of games.

But barring a miracle, Roch, Kev and Blimby have made it up into the elite league with the big boys for next season!!!

Week 38 - The Conclusion

Div 1

Wilts (8) 230

---------------------------
Mrs Haddock (7) 168

Eric Cornflake (2) 148

Congratulations to WILTS, 2009-2010 CHAMPION!!!!!! You win something from the goody bag (details to follow).

Well done to runners-up Sussex and Dave..a pint each for you boys.

Commiserations to Eric Cornflake, Norton and Mrs Haddock who all slip miserably through the trap door to the basement division.

Div 2

Kev (10) 201
Rochdale (4) 200
Blimby (3) 188
------------------------
Sharon (4) 171
McGetta (4) 167
Wynford (1) 165
Phil (6) 163
The Mistress (1) 160
Braders (1) 146
Andy (0) 145
SDU (2) 135
Superseagull (4) 118
WynfordSon (2) 92

OOOOOOOOOOH!!! Kev has only gone and nicked the title from under Rochdale's nose on the final day, with his Chelsea inspired 10....he wins top spot by just 1 point.

Congratulations to him, fellow double-centurion Roch and Blimby who join the elite in Div 1 for next season. Hearty congratulations to all of you....who have been there or thereabouts from the off.

As you'll see from the final Div 1 standings it'll be a tall order to repeat the high positions you enjoyed this term but we'll see all in good time.

And so the season comes to a close....thank you all for competing and I'll see you over on the Golden Boots thread for the summer!!!
